Why put advertising on a green website. | Green and Socially Responsible Business, Entrepreneurship and Marketing

Okay, money is not the first thing. But it certainly facilitates the exchange of goods and services.

You will notice advertisements on this blog, from day 1. Why would I do that when I have no readership and when I might scare readers away by being too “commercial”?

There are actually a couple of reasons that I chose to put advertisements on this site.

I am curious how good the advertisment servers are at providing ads that really do promote environmentally and socially friendly companies.
I am lazy. I am hoping that I will discover some interesting businesses, products or services that I would not have other wise found and I will have more to write about. Not that I am worried about getting content.
If the ads served up are indeed relevant, well, then you, my eco-friendly readers, might want to check them out.
And finally, yes, I would like to make at least enough to cover my server costs and the coffee that I drink while writing these posts. Advertisements are an important business model these days. But not the only ones.

Hopefully over the next couple months you will see posts based on companies that came to my attention as advertisments. I will also report back on how accurate the advertisements are.

Please let me know if you see ads that are particularly off target or are spot on and deserve a post.

Well the first ads are in. The initial placements are PSAs. Not a terrible use of space. And certainly along the social aspect. We will see what 48 hours and a crawling by Google does for the accuracy.
