Everywhere I look I am finding green businesses, or businesses that help companies be more green, or events that support green businesses.  I can’t imagine that all these companies just popped up since I started looking for green businesses.  They have been there and slowly growing in number.  I didn’t really have to seek in order to find, I just had to shift my focus a little bit.

Which brings me to my first questions about green marketing — how much do you flaunt your green credentials and how much do you just let people assume that you are doing the green thing.

The two events that I just found out about, Discover Brilliant and the expo portion of Sustainable September, are focused on sustainability and have a heavy emphasis on energy efficiency and new forms of energy.  Yet neither of them seems to mention if they do anything to minimize their own energy (and carbon) footprint.

At somepoint I am sure that we will be able to assume that a company is doing the green thing.  I don’t think that we are there yet.  I think I would loudly proclaim that where I can I am walking the talk.  For example, once I finish this post I am going to go insert an icon that Dream Host provides saying that this is a green website (carbon offsets — a topic for another post).
